Teleguard
Teleguard is a programmable line-powered telephone call controlling device. Teleguard is pre- programmed to prevent the dialing of all long distance calls and chargeable calls and may be re- programmed to restrict any kind of telephone number or any specific number or to restrict the duration of outgoing calls. Authorized users can have an Override Password to make otherwise restricted calls. All programming is password-protected. Teleguard works with both pulse and tone dialing telephones and is compatible with telephone systems world-wide.
CONFIGURATION and APPLICATIONS
Teleguard is a microprocessor-based fully programmable device designed for residential and business use to control the use of a telephone or telephones on a single telephone line.
Teleguard is compatible with virtually any switch system including key systems (1A2 or electronic), PBX systems, Centrex or similar operations, OCC (other common carriers), and central office switches (analog or digital) with features such as call waiting.
Various programmable features together provide maximum flexibility for wide-ranging applications.
Teleguard is particularly useful in restricting access to :
"976" telephone numbers and long distance telephone numbers,
calls for directory assistance and operator assistance,
and the duration of use of "local" measured telephone line service, courtesy phones, taxi phones, and computer modem lines.
Operation
When the user’s telephone is off-hook, Teleguard monitors outgoing digits dialled for programmed restricted or allowed numbers. If Teleguard detects any restricted numbers, it disconnects the call for a few seconds and then returns a dial tone so that the user can dial another number.
Installation
For Teleguard to control all telephones on the same line, it must be installed at the first telephone on the line from which all other extensions are connected.
If Teleguard is installed at any extension telephone other than the first telephone then only that extension telephone’s dialling operation is controlled by the unit.
Installation is very simple. It involves only connecting the Teleguard to the telephone line with line cords equipped with modular plugs.
The unique design of the housing of Teleguard prevents the modular plugs from being disconnected from it, after installation, without using tools. KEY FEATURES
Not polarity sensitive Non-volatile memory; allows programming prior to installation Numbers can be allowed or denied in specific locations (for example, 1-XXX-5555) Specially-designed housing provides safeguard against attempts to circumvent the unit’s programmed restrictions "911" cannot be blocked Programmable by DTMF or pulse/rotary telephone Restrict DTMF or pulse/rotary dialling Allow incoming calls only, if desired Restrictions can be turned on or off via the dial pad Remotely programmable from a DTMF dialling telephone Conversation time can be programmed for outgoing calls from 0 to 99 minutes Equipped with necessary accessories for both modular and wired installations
Programmable Functions
Deny/allow 00/011 dialling Deny/allow 411 and 1-411 dialling Deny/allow 555 and 1-555 dialling Restriction ON / Restriction OFF Allow incoming calls only Add numbers to Allow and Deny Table - enables the user to add any specific numbers to deny, for example, 212, 3, 1-816-233-9994, 393-2121, etc. and to add any specific numbers to allow, for example, the user may have all long distance calls (1+) denied, but calls to 1-905-882-6107 may be made by entering it in the Allow Table Remove numbers from Allow and Deny Table Ignore first digit Outgoing call duration limit Digit count barrier Dial pulse only Dial Restart - Some Central Offices allow customers to receive dial tone if the telephone is off hook after the called party hangs up. The Dial Restart ON does not allow a second string of dialed digits to be dialled without first hanging up. OFF allows the user to continue dialling for accessing computers, voice mail systems, etc. Ignore * - This is turned ON if the switching system does not cut the user off whenever a * is dialled as part of a telephone number. Wild card - The * on the DTMF telephone keypad may be used during programming of the Allow or Deny Tables to represent any digit from 0 to 9. For example: 1-***-550-**** in the Deny Table would deny all calls to any 550 exchange code outside the user’s own area code.
Factory Preprogrammed Settings
These factory programmed settings may be easily changed by the user, with the programming password:
